Hi, and welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy podcast. Today, it is Mental Monday, and we are talking all about mindset, how to live it, how to teach it, and how to sell it.
Hi, all, and welcome back to the Mindset Coach Academy podcast. My name is Lindsey Wilson, and I want to talk about belief. Y'all know I talk about this a lot. We talk about belief work. And as we're approaching the end of 2024, you might be listening to this in 2024, you might be listening to this 2025, but a lot of us in my programs, and you're probably as well, are thinking about goals, right? And thinking about appropriate goals, and how we should think about goals, and what goals we should set. And, you know, one of the things that we come back to often is belief. You know, there's that old kind of corny saying of like, if you believed you could not fail, what would you go for?
Or what would you do if you believed you couldn't fail? Or something like that. You guys know what I'm talking about. And I think oftentimes those quotes are a little bit corny. But I do think that it's really important to pay attention to the sort of glass ceiling that we've put on our goals.
Now, I have to tell you, though, that I do go back and forth on it's not counterintuitive or it's not counter to what I'm saying right now. But I also believe that there's time to set what I call more mediocre goals. And this is a process that we teach in our students, because there's a time to have more like very, very, very realistic goals, because I don't necessarily believe in like the pie in the sky goals.
That being said. I also think from a dreaming, planning, getting excited, opening up your brain to the possibilities in the world, that as an exercise is extremely important. Because that is where magic comes in. That is where dreams and like crazy things that happen in your life. That's where they come.
They come from your imagination. And so taking sort of a pause and thinking about. If you, you know, we do this exercise called the warehouse down the street.
I've talked about this before. Like if you believed that everything that you want is a warehouse down the street and all you had to do was get to that warehouse, you would keep going. You would absolutely keep going, come heller high water, no matter what happened on the way to that warehouse, you would keep going. And so I think a really interesting question for all of us when we're thinking about our goals is what would you go for if you believed it was going to work out? Now, we all know there's no guarantees, but what is guaranteed is you get to become the person that goes for things.
And I don't know about you, but for me, that is worth it. I have goals. I haven't accomplished yet because they, the goalpost keeps moving.
I have income goals for my business that I haven't hit yet that because they keep moving. And I am, it still fires me up. It still gets me excited because I believe that it's going to happen. And I am the person, I get to be the person that believes that it's going to work out. Okay. And I show up.
This is the most important thing. I show up as the person that believes it's going to work out. Is it always going to work out? Nope.
Sorry. Can't tell you that. But what I can tell you is if you show up as the person who believes, then you get to be that person.
It's kind of meta. So my question for you, whatever goals you have, think a little bit beyond them, maybe just for fun, just to practice that creative imagination. And how would you show up if you believed it was all going to work out? And knowing that there are no guarantees. That is the beauty of getting to go for our goals.
Honestly, if that wasn't part of it, it wouldn't be that much fun to accomplish them. It just wouldn't. So how would you show up? If you believed it was all going to work out? That's a really great question.
How would you show up? All right, guys, that's all for me. Thanks for joining me for Mental Monday. We'll see you next week.
