Hi guys and welcome back to the Mindset Coach Academy podcast. My name is Lindsey Wilson. All right, so I'm going to give you just a snapshot of what's going on in my life today. It's mental Monday, so this is going to be a quick one, but I actually recorded this session this morning. I was on my way back from taking one of my children to school for the second time.
I should say I was going for the second time because I had to bring her a water bottle and it was a whole thing. And now I realize that the podcast did not upload and now I'm doing it in my car outside my house. I'm telling you all this because it's relevant to what we're talking about today. And that is that no matter what is going on in your life, there is some challenge, whether it's kids or work, I have a friend that's going up for a, she hates her job, so she's interviewing. I got someone in my academy that has aging parents.
I got somebody just went through a divorce like plenty with young kids at home. It's a lot. And no matter what your sort of flavor is, I think it's really important to take a moment and remind yourself that you're doing a great job. I find myself, when I hear those words, my best friend tells me that quite often. God love her.
Shout out to Emma. My mom, God love her, my brothers. I have people in my life that tell it to me. Lucky. But sometimes that person has to be you. And I find myself both like when I'm in the moment, right, and I have a lot going on.
It's like the time that I need the most, I'm most likely to forget it. And so I'm just telling you right now, if you can safely put your hand on your chest, put your hand on your chest, and say, I'm doing a great job. This is a lot.
I'm doing a great job. What this does for me is it immediately calms my nervous system. It makes me see the solutions. It makes me feel like that I'm not weak, right? I mean, I think that's one of the hardest things about being in it, right? Is I always say you're gonna feel more out of shape when you're out for a run than you are on the couch So whatever you're going through right now if you're being tested you're gonna feel weak It's not until it ends that you look back and you're like holy shit my emotional and Mental regulation through all that was absurd.
You don't feel that way in the middle of it But remember there's this undercurrent. It's a little bit like lifting weights. I always like my sports metaphors You know, it's like lifting weights. It's like you're tearing down your muscles for this long-term Benefit where you're gonna bounce back stronger and that happens with our mental and emotional life too But it's hard in the moment, right? And so again Just that validation for yourself that you're doing a great job and here's another trick If you start telling it to other people You know your co-worker your best friend Whoever because here's the thing it'll get easier for you to say it yourself is what I'm gonna say because here's the thing Everyone in your life everyone you interact with everyone you talk to everyone you walk by They are all struggling with something.
Am I right? We know this rationally and yet when we're in the middle of whatever our crap is it's hard to remember so the more we can It's like a weird thing like the more we get out of ourselves and empathize with other people that easier it is to show self-compassion I notice this in myself all the time like and my best friend and I do this to each other a lot like I look At her and I'm like holy shit. Look at what is she is doing and And then I look at her and I'm like I'm doing something different and sometimes in some different ways and she's looking at me like that and I'm like Yeah, I am doing a great job and so if you can see it in other people I think it's easier to see in yourself. So again, this is just my simple reminder Remind yourself that you're doing a great job. You're doing a great job and Let that sort of like seep into your bones and it just helps you'll find more solutions. You'll be more motivated You'll be more grateful all the positive vibes are gonna come in and it makes it easier and You can also say I think this is really hard But I'm doing a great job And you are doing a great job and you're doing a great job by listening to this and taking a little bit of care of yourself By listening to some just some positive words.
So good on you. All right guys, we'll see you next week for Mental Monday. Bye for now
