My name is Lindsey Wilson and it is Mental Monday and I'm sitting here looking at myself in the screen and I remember I was listening to this podcast about zoom dysmorphia and how people are getting like more plastic surgery and more bow talks and all the things because they were staring at themselves in a mirror basically most of the day and I'm like way past getting my hair cut so my hair is like all over the place.
I really shouldn't complain about having too much hair because I am blessed with thick hair but yeah if you have zoom dysmorphia you're not alone. All right let's move into today. What I want to talk about today is so I'll give you some context right so remember Mental Mondays are like one tip tool or technique that you can implement in your life today or this week and I'm fixing my hair you guys now I'm like obsessed with my hair.
Okay so okay and I want to talk about this really simple tool you guys know I'm obsessed with like just the really simple tools you can implement. Okay so what happened I guess it was two weeks ago now. My daughter my oldest daughter was turning nine okay so it was her birthday week we had scheduled you know summer birthdays if you have summer birthdays for the kiddos it's challenging right so we scheduled it like midweek because people aren't out of town as much then on the weekends and anyway we had a bunch of people that were going to come and it was going to be really fun we have a really cool backyard we have like a turf backyard and like a trampoline and a slip inside and a barbecue and like all the things right her grandma was in town and like we were all ready okay. So the day before my mom calls and I hadn't been feeling great but mostly I was just feeling kind of tired and achy and I'd been working out and so I didn't really think that much of it and my mom says I just tested positive for COVID and and I was like oh shit okay so I went and tested because I really wasn't feeling great and as soon she said it I was like maybe this is more than me just being tired and I tested positive and I was like okay so we have to cancel the party okay so this sucks right this sucks for a nine-year-old who's been looking for her birthday looking forward to her birthday party has all her friends scheduled to come and you know you can imagine right so what we did is we did this little technique this little exercise this little game if you will and it's called unfortunately fortunately okay unfortunately fortunately and how you do it is you basically say a statement and you start with unfortunately so unfortunately you know my you know my I got in a vendor but then but fortunately everybody's okay.
That would be perfect, unfortunately, fortunately. So I had my kids do it around the dinner table. And again, this is a great exercise for kids, but I think it's really great for all of us. And how we did it for my daughter on her birthday was unfortunately my birthday party got canceled because of COVID, but fortunately, and she got to say, fortunately we rescheduled it for next week, or fortunately, my grandma's in town and we still had a great day.
And so we did it actually a couple of times and we pretty much stayed with that. Unfortunately, we have COVID, but fortunately none of us are really that sick, right? Unfortunately, my birthday party got canceled and we have COVID, fortunately, we got the vaccine so we're not that sick.
So we just did that exercise a couple of times and it helped so much because, for a nine-year-old for the birthday party, being disappointed on your birthday sucks, right? And so unfortunately, fortunately, is such a great exercise to use in all different scenarios in your life. Again, as an adult, for your kids, as a parent, whatever. And again, it's just a quick little exercise that helps you see the silver lining, that helps you see that it's not all the most terrible thing in the world and forces your brain to define something good. It's a little bit like a gratitude practice, but I think it's just a little bit more fun. And it also, I think, allows you to verbalize the unfortunately, which can feel kind of good because I was, I totally wanted my daughter to acknowledge that this sucked, and that was a totally fine, valid feeling for her to have.
So the unfortunately, fortunately exercise really does all of that in one quick little exercise. It's a great thing to do at dinnertime, it's a great thing to do before bed. It's also a really great thing to do in the car because kids are, I don't know, they're more attentive. And so it can be really quick, really fun. I encourage you to try it.
And come on over to Instagram at Lindsey Positiva Forum and let me know if you used it, if you loved it, what your unfortunately, fortunately is today. All right guys, that's all for now. We'll see you next week.
Hi guys, hey, real quick. If you have ever wanted to be a mental performance coach with paid clients, if you've ever thought, man, could I do that too? Man, I wish I could charge for something maybe I'm already doing for free.
If you've ever had that little inkling of like, oh, I wanna do this. I wanna impact people, I wanna take it more seriously, I wanna do this for real, then mark your calendars because October 9th at 11 a.m. Pacific time, I am getting on live to really talk you through how to do this. And I'm really passionate about this because I know many of you are on the sidelines like wanting to get into the game and maybe getting overwhelmed with where do I even start, maybe thinking you have to like get all this business experience. And I really wanna just help you figure out how to get your first client. Because the difference between having unpaid clients where you're just doing sort of this work unofficially and paid is a big jump. And it's the first really big step.
And there's a lot of strategy that goes into it and there's a ton of mental barriers and obstacles that I know you're experiencing if you're thinking about this. So I'm gonna be on, we're gonna do it quick. It's gonna be 30 minutes. And I'm gonna walk you through some of the big obstacles and how to overcome them to get that first paid client. Cause that's really, guys, that's really the first step.
Like you can have big businesses, you can go and take you wherever you wanna go, but none of that is gonna happen without getting your first paid client. Okay, so I'm gonna walk you through that. And at the end of that, I'm gonna have a panel of many of our recently certified students really sort of peeling, sort of good behind the curtain, if you will, for how they made their first 2K. So if you wanna stay on for that, you can. If you just wanna, the info on how to get your first paid client, come, the link is in the show notes. You can also go to our website, positiveperformancetraining.com, forward slash, forward slash training. Okay, I can't wait to see you there. It's on October 9th.
