Welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy Podcast. I'm Lindsey Wilson and I am a high-performance mindset coach, a mom, a former professional athlete and an entrepreneur. I help coaches and high performers optimize their mindset to improve their coaching, their performance in those of their athletes and their lives. Here you'll learn all about mindset, how to live it, how to teach it and how to sell it. Hi all and welcome back to the Mindset Coach Academy Podcast. It's Mental Monday.
I gotta get my camera ready here. Okay. I wanted to talk this week. We just got off our week nine of the Mindset Coach Academy. This has been just an amazing group.
I said that about every cohort. We've had some amazing ones, but I do think they keep getting better because our program gets better. It's just better laid out. We have more support. Our captains, which are our certified coaches that come back and actually coach throughout the training are so dialed in. They have so much experience as coaches that their coaching improves.
They're really good coaches. I'm telling you that because one of the things we talked about today is what I want to talk about today at Mental Monday. I really started thinking about, it's not new, but we're promoting it more, which is our six-part mental training framework. We call it the mental game plan. We now have a six-week program called the mental game plan. That's paid, obviously, six weeks, but we also just share that framework. We teach it to you guys for free on the podcast. It's in our free book, How to Become a Mental Performance Coach. We talk about this framework everywhere. Our certified coaches get taught it.
They use it. I'm telling you that because it took me 18 years to develop this framework. It just goes to show how simple can take a really long time to really curate and distill down simple steps. That people need to get results. It sounds simple and it's actually not.
But here is what is simple. The truth of the matter is that if all of us that are passionate about mental performance, coaching, and mindset, and the power of mindset, even if we just think about through sports, impacting young people with helping them understand how their brain works, ultimately. That's what so many of us are doing or want to be doing more of. If all of us are coming up with our own system, our own framework, reinventing the wheel as it were, we're just going to impact less people. That's it.
We're going to impact less people. If it's a challenge for you to make the jump of using someone else's material, and I'm not talking about plagiarizing or using things that aren't licensed. I'm just talking about the structure of these are the six things that I have taught over and over and over again. I'm going to say 97% of athletes, at least young athletes, need this foundation of these six skills. And if you want the skills, again, I'll put the link below to the free ebook where we talk about our six step framework. It's also the foundation of what we teach in the mental game plan, which is our six week program. But if we're all reinventing the wheel, we're just going to impact less people. That's all there is to it. And so I know a lot of people have that hesitation of like, but I want to come up with my own.
And here's what I will tell you is that one, yes, you can come up with your own. It's going to take a while. It took me 18 years to I don't think that we go into that really recognizing how hard it is to to take the time to start from scratch. And here's what I tell my certified students, like, you're going to take the framework that I came up with, and you're going to make it your own. Like it's going to be your stories, your customization, your tweaking of it, your lived experience, your coaching experience. You're going to shift it depending on who's in front of you. Like that's part of it too.
That's part of the art of coaching. And so it's not like we have a bunch of robots out there just regurgitating the same thing. Are there a limited amount of tools that like most people really need?
I would say yes. There's not 100 tools that most athletes need. They need like six.
And I would say you could even argue that they need like two. So we teach the sixth step, the mental game plan. And I share it all the time. I share it everywhere. I'm not going to go into the six steps here, but it's very simple. It's like how the brain works, visualization and thought management and like the routines that we teach.
Again, it's in the ebook. But I'm telling that because I think a lot of people have this mental block of I need to come up with something unique. And this is the other thing they also think that their clients or the athlete needs something fully customized every single time.
And I'm calling bullshit. I do not believe that most athletes that haven't been exposed to mental training need a customized curriculum. I think that as people develop and move towards new levels of their own self awareness and the places where they get hung up. Sure, we can customize our approach and to some degree customize a little bit within the session. Otherwise they could just do workbook, right? But I still think that and I've seen that most people need just these six foundational pieces in place. Then we start customizing after that.
And I'm doing this mental Monday because whether you're interested in being a mental performance coach or whether there's someplace else in your life. Take the shortcut, man. The wheels already been invented. You don't have to reinvent it. Take it and you will go further than you would starting from scratch.
I can guarantee you that. And then maybe later you want to customize it and then you want to reinvent it. But when you have the shortcut in front of you, why not just take it? It'll make things easier.
And here's the rub. The real truth that I want to leave you with is you will impact more people if you take the shortcuts. So in some ways you don't even have to do it for you.
Just do it because it's going to get you helping people faster. So if you want our six part mental training framework, it's also called the mental game plan. It is in our ebook, How to Become a Mental Performance Coach. If you're interested in being a mental performance coach, I would read that guide like cover to cover.
It covers pricing, what to work on, what skills you need to develop, like all of the things. So that's it guys. That's it.
If you want to do this, whether that's paid clients or unpaid clients, take the shortcuts. We've already invented the wheel. Our six part framework works. Now you can go take it and you can work it. Alright guys, we'll see you again next week. Bye for now.
