Hi guys and welcome back to the Mindset Coach Academy.
My name is Lindsey Wilson. We're going to do a Mental Monday guys where we talk about one tip, tool or technique that you can implement today. Okay, so I want to talk about visualization and I think some of you who are listening may already be totally into visualization, but I bet there's a fair amount of you that want to visualize and just really don't know how and it feels sort of overwhelming or like you kind of know how but like actually doing it today on a Monday afternoon like where do I even freaking start and once your brain gets a little confused it just moves on to something else. So the first and simplest way to do any kind of visualization is to do a recorded one, a guided visualization and we have some on our website. I'll put some of the show notes.
I think ours are like $17 or something but they're very like, they're very like, what do I say? Like they're kind of one visualization that you're going to want to do over and over and over again. So like I would get it and then I would put it on my phone or I'd put it on my notes in my phone or I would text it to myself.
So it was like really readily available. And then press play. That's like the simplest way to do it and something that I really recommend if it all feels like a little overwhelming. Like anybody can close their eyes and press play and I wouldn't feel like shy or weird about doing it I did guided visualizations and hypnosis with my coach guided for years. That was how I did it and I really like that because it just takes the guesswork out of it.
Like you just press play, that's it. But again, I would put it somewhere that's like easily accessible. Like don't have it buried in your email. Like put it somewhere that you could just grab it and do it no excuses.
So that's the first thing. The second way is to just do a timer and I would do five or 10 minutes. But with visuals, this isn't necessarily like so much of a, I mean it is kind of a meditation but I'm going to talk about visualization more than just focusing on and removing thoughts, which is kind of what mindfulness is.
That's kind of the difference, right? And so for the visualization piece, what I would do is I would put five or 10 minutes and I would like let myself think about my big goal and I would bring in all five senses plus two extra, which is how you feel emotion in the moment and your body, how it feels in space while you're experiencing that goal. And I would just play with it.
Like for me, a lot of my goals are around my business, so I would think about what it's gonna feel like to be on the stage with my students, thinking about how many of them have made so much money or I would think about what I'm gonna wear and I would imagine the money and I would do all of it, right? And so you could do that and I would just put a timer on your phone and do that for five or 10 minutes. The third way that you could do visualization is to, and this is more of like a calming type one, is to count something really repetitive. So for example, like counting waves going in and out, like an imagining your feet on the sand and your imagining waves coming in and out, you can even mark those with your breath. So you can imagine the coming in, the waves coming in and the waves going out and you can do that for 100 breaths, okay?
Or you can do it for 50, you can don't get all crazy on me. So those are three options for doing visualization today in a really simple, accessible way. One, get a recorded visualization.
That can be from us or someone else. Record, press play, done. The second is putting a timer on and visualizing like a goal and just being there. And then the third is using visualization, usually attached to your breath but in a repetitive manner, like the waves coming in and out or maybe clouds passing overhead and counting.
So it's not a time, but it's just a count. So I hope that's helpful for you. If you are interested in more visualization tips and technique, come on over to Instagram or let me know if you tried one of these at Lindsay Positive Perform. And yeah, let me know if you liked one of these different techniques.
