Hi all and welcome to Mental Monday. My name is Lindsay Wilson, and this is the mindset coach Academy podcast. Guys, I want to talk about rejection and failure, and how important it is to success. And I just want to bring this attention to this topic, not because it's something that you don't know, but because our whole society and all the messages that we get are all about success and how great it feels and how awesome it is and how much we should covet it.

And, you know, that's all consumerism, to like, how can we appear successful, right, these are all the messages that we're getting bombarded with really like, all the time. And the image that I want you to have is just really thinking about success, not as like the external things that are like the markers of success, like the house in the car, and the bags and the whatever, right, or the vacations or whatever.

And think of it as the way that we're going to get success and it is not going to be through these external things, but rather how much we can stomach rejection and failure. Like that is the way and again, this is not new stuff. It's not stuff that you've never heard before, or never practice.

But we have to sort of counteract all these other things that like, success is gonna be so great when we get there. But like right here, the way that we know that we are getting to success is being able to stomach failure and rejection, like that's the only path. And so just like reframing the purpose of our day is not like hustling, hustling, hustling to success. It's like, How can I be in the moment?

Of course, we're not looking for failure and rejection. But how can I be in the moment enough to know that is the sign that I'm getting somewhere? So like, it's not something to avoid? It's not something to go towards, necessarily, we don't necessarily want to fail. But as it's happening, we have to reframe it as a good thing.

Like success has to be through rejection and failure, like it is not going to happen just by getting the bag or getting the vacation or getting the house like there's no shortcut to that. And so recognizing this and countering all the messages that we're hearing can be, I think, kind of grounding and just allow us to experience all of it like yes, great, have the vacation, but also know that there's the cost of that is failure and rejection and being able to stomach it. That is our job.

That is the path. That is how you know you're going in the right direction. And of course, you have to iterate from that, right? Like we don't just stay there and get rejected and fail. We iterate from that, we take action from that and we keep going.
