Hi guys, welcome to mindset coach Academy podcast, it's Mental Monday, where we talk about one tip tool or technique that you can use to implement in your life right now. I want to talk about loving who you are becoming in the pursuit of a goal.
Lindsey 0:53
So we talk a lot about process versus result goals, right, like everybody talks about that. And I think that's great, like loving the journey, loving the process of improving and getting better. But I want to take it even one step further. Excuse me, and I want to talk about loving who you are becoming.
Lindsey 1:12
So let me give you examples. So for me, I have big monetary goals in my company. And the process to becoming that is filled with ups and downs, it's filled with a whole lot of I don't know, and have to go figure it out kind of things, decisions, and confusion overwhelm, just like the mental process of continuing to believe even when I have failures, like that is the process, right?
Lindsey 1:42
And there is a part of me that really likes that. And that was the same with being a basketball player. Like, there were times when we lost, there were times when I played badly and I had to pick myself up and go to practice the next day. And I hated those moments. But I loved overall the process of pushing myself.
Lindsey 1:58
So that's important. But you know that what I also want you to think about is who you have to become to make a certain amount in your business or be a professional basketball player or get the job that you want, or be the head coach that you desire. Who is she?
Lindsey 2:22
And what are you doing today to become that to act as if and love that process? So for me, that person is someone who doesn't put up with any shit. She makes decisions and sticks with them. She is not fearless but does things scared. She figures things out. She believes in herself, even when it's really, really hard. And yes, those are all part of the process.
Lindsey 2:50
But again, it's that deeper level of like, who am I becoming? And do I love her? Do I love that person? And I think this is almost like the North Star if you will, where through all the muck of failure and success and falling on your face, you sort of hold on to this person that you're becoming, and you're excited about becoming that person.
Lindsey 3:14
And you also know that becoming that person, you have to go through the muck, right? It's not optional, like, that is not something to avoid, because that is who you're going to become Right? Like, you're going to become that person by having gone through all this shit. And so that kind of changes things when you're in the middle of it too. Right?
Lindsey 3:37
Like, when I fail or when I stumble, I'm like, okay, to get to her, this is part of it. And that, again, that's sort of like your north star, you're anchored, that's like your lifeline really of like, I'm excited to be her and I'm gonna I'm being her now. And part of being hurt is this, which is really hard. And that's it. And so that really helps me and I hope that it helps you. I think it's again, it's a different level of just focusing on the process.
Lindsey 4:06
It's really getting excited about who you're becoming. So if you love this, how about sharing this with somebody that you know, is also becoming something great because I think this is a really simple but very effective reframe of how things are and spending some time today. Being clear about who you're becoming, and getting excited about being her. That's really, really important. So I hope you liked this. If you loved it, rate review, and share. We love you. Thank you. We'll see you again next week. Bye for now.
