Here, you'll learn all about mindset, how to live it, how to teach it, and how to sell it.
Lindsey 00:35
Hi, all, and welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy podcast. My name is Lindsey Wilson, and it is Mental Monday guys, this is where we talk about one tip, tool, or technique that you can implement in your life today, to be a better human, to be more successful, to be a higher performer, to be happier, all the things.
Lindsey 00:58
I'm actually sitting in my car recording this, my husband and I are about to go where he went into Costco, I'm waiting and we go to Costco. And I'm doing that because I am in like a sprint right now to get a bunch of stuff done. I'm going to a work event, a mastermind actually in Mexico next week, and I am hustling to get things done.
Lindsey 01:19
And that's really kind of the nice thing about what I do is there are times when I take off for vacation, or just have a little bit of a more relaxed time. And there are other times when I am like pedal to the metal getting stuff done. And I wanted to talk about that a little bit because of the way that I'm able to get a lot done in those moments and how you can do it. Now my coach talks about something called a high-value cycle or a low-value cycle.
Lindsey 01:50
And what she means by this is the ability to put yourself in the right mindset to be productive, or on the opposite, how we allow ourselves and our thoughts to put ourselves in a negative space. And you can think of this broadly like, those days when, as we say, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, like things just don't feel right, I'm potentially procrastinating or my energy is low, or I don't feel like I'm able to get things done, maybe you're overwhelmed. Whatever it is the experience of being in that negative space.
Lindsey 02:32
I call that a negative spiral. Because what happens is, we don't have the great thoughts, which makes us feel a certain way, which makes us take the wrong actions or the wrong actions in the right way. What I mean by that is like, maybe you're like frantically getting little things done, maybe you're getting some things done, but you're not finishing them.
Lindsey 02:58
And ultimately, our results are not what we want them to be. And oftentimes, we finished the day not really feeling that great. And feeling like we weren't able to sort of get a handle on things. Versus those other days, when we feel like I am rockin and rolling, getting stuff done. Feeling good. And what that does is when we get those results that we want, like getting things done, we get a hit of dopamine. And that motivates us to stay in that upward spiral.
Lindsey 03:35
That's why we call it a spiral because you go you're moving up, it's a cycle. Versus when we don't feel that great. We go into the negative spiral. Okay, now, what I want to talk about this, and why I want to talk about this is we often feel like this is out of our control. Right? We often feel like, well, again, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed or on the opposite. I just feel great today.
Lindsey 03:58
Now there may be some physical things that we need to shore up, right diet, sleep, etc. There are things that happen that we can't just, mentally get past, right if you're sleep deprived, for example. And yet, there are still tools that we can make the best of a bad situation.
Lindsey 04:17
And so what I want, why I want to talk about this is I want you to recognize the choice that we all have to get into the high spiral, upward spiral, or allow ourselves to get into the negative spiral. It is not something that happens to us. And if there are things that happen to us like a bad night's sleep, there are still ways for us to optimize our mindset to make the best of it.
Lindsey 04:48
And still, maybe it's not like the highest upward spiral we've ever been in. But at least it's not a negative downward spiral. Right. So what are the thoughts that are going to allow you to feel a certain way, because again, once we start the day, that way, it spirals. And I know you guys have experienced that. And instead of acting like the passenger, like these things happen to us, taking a moment to decide what thoughts are going to put us in the upward spiral.
Lindsey 05:25
Thoughts like, I am a great mindset coach, I can make money doing what I love, or nobody's buying. I don't know if I can make money at this. I mean, just saying that, right, your shoulders drop. And so imagine how that affects your day.
Lindsey 05:50
And here's the thing, guys, this is the discipline that it takes to do anything great. This is the discipline that it takes to build a mindset coaching business because there are going to be days when it is a lot easier to get in that negative spiral. And it actually feels like it's happening to us.
Lindsey 06:08
And it actually feels like that is just what happens. And it's not, it is the discipline of keeping ourselves up. And by the way, this is what you're gonna be teaching. If you're a mindset coach, this is what you're going to be teaching your athletes or other high performers, there are days that I feel like practicing or they feel like in their a negative mindset, and like it just happened to them.
Lindsey 06:30
The discipline of staying positive and keeping yourself in the upward spiral, based on your thoughts is a discipline. And that is probably the thing that will change your life when it comes to thought work and mindset work the most significantly, the most significantly, the discipline of maintaining your thoughts so that you can get into an upward spiral. And what happens is you're able to stay there because of the results you get. But the opposite is true, too. If we get the negative results, the negative mindset, we tend to stay there.
Lindsey 07:11
So my challenge to you is what thought is gonna get you in that upward spiral. And then think it the discipline of thinking it right now. Guys, we got the Mindset Coach Academy, opening up in February. Applications are due February 15. I don't know when this is actually coming out might be past that time. If it's past cool, join the next one. Y'all have a great week. And I'll see you again next week. Bye for now.
