Hi all and welcome to Mental Monday. My name is Lindsay Wilson. And this is the mindset coach Academy podcast Mondays, you know what we do, we spend like five minutes we talk about one tip, tool, or technique that you can implement in your life today, or this week, to improve your mental game.

So we just had the mindset coaching collective, which is our small group monthly coaching program we met this week. And this is where we nerd out on mindset, coaching, we coach ourselves, we learn to be coach and sit in the student chair. And what we talked about this week was life pillars and affirmations.

So you can think of life pillars as your foundation, and you can think of affirmations as your next level, right? We're building towards that. And one of the things that are crucial to this work is recognizing where our obstacles and where our friction and misalignment lie.

Because if we say that we want something, and we have deep-seated beliefs or deep-seated foundational principles that are in misalignment with that thing that we say that we want, we will never get there.

And I've used this analogy before, but it's like being on one of those go-karts where you're pushing the gas pedal working really hard, and but you're also on the foot on the brake, there are two different pedals.

And you'll know that you're doing this if you find yourself saying things like, I'm working so hard, but I'm not making any progress or thinking to yourself, why are things seem to be so much harder for me? If you say those things, it's often misalignment.

Not always, but often it is, which means the misalignment again, between your deep-seated beliefs and foundational principles, and where you say that you want to go now, listen up, it doesn't matter if these thoughts are real, or if they're just your perception, okay, does not matter, it just matters that you believe them.

So let me give you an example. I've used this them a million times, but it's really a big one. So one of my foundational principles and my life pillars is I'm going to be a good wife and mom, like period and a story that's going to happen, right? And not every day.

But as far as like my core belief and core mission in life, that's important to me. Then my affirmation is a really high-income goal for my company. Can those things to coexist? Absolutely.

But if I don't believe that they can, there will always be misalignment and friction, I will be working towards his high-income goal. But I will be pulling myself back believing like but I also said I want to be a good mom. And I don't believe those two things can exist.

So for you, whatever the thing is that you hold most dear, yeah, it's probably three or four things that you can like really zero down, and think like, this is the most important thing to me. And then you might say you have a goal, right? If you believe those two things can exist doesn't matter if it's fact, fact, it probably isn't.

If you believe that there is misalignment there, if there's friction, you will never get to where you want to go, you will be putting the gas on your pedal on the gas, your foot on the pedal gas pedal, something like that. But you will also have your foot on the brake. And things will be harder than they need to be.

So what do we do, we make sure that we bring those thoughts to the forefront of our mind and we can just bring it just be aware of them first, then we can argue with them, then we can find evidence against it, then we can take action towards disproving it, we can do all those things.

But first, we want to be aware, we want to recognize that there's that misalignment. Because oftentimes we're not even aware that there is and when we're not aware we started to start blaming ourselves. We think well, it's me, that's the problem instead of just recognizing that it's your thought or your belief that those two things can't coexist.

So again, for me, I believe that I can be a great wife and mom and make a really high income with my company. But I have to work on that belief. I have to work on bringing it to the forefront of my mind and making sure that there's that alignment because if there are not things will always be harder than they need to be.
