Lindsey 00:38
Hi all, and welcome to Mindset Coach Academy. My name is Lindsay Wilson. And today we are talking about my number one tool for helping someone else for coaching someone else. And this is a tool that I didn't realize was a tool. Because when I think about tools, I think about the tear process and guided visualization, and breathing exercises. But this is the thing that I think as I've evolved as a coach has been one of the most critical pieces of coaching and what I mean coaching, I mean helping.
Lindsey 01:10
So whether you are a coach, a human, a mindset coach, or a leader, this podcast is relevant for you. And I think I'm actually gonna do a longer episode on this, but I wanted to get it in on Mental Monday because it was on my mind. And I think it's important.
Lindsey 01:24
So this is the thing, I used to think my work as a mindset coach was all about how many tools I could teach someone, or how well I could teach them even a few tools so that they could implement them, I make sure they have the reset word dialed in the pregame, routine breathing exercises and all that. And that is important. Don't get me wrong. It's good stuff. It really, really works. And those are the tools that I go back to again and again.
Lindsey 01:46
But like I said, there is one thing that above all else has been the most helpful in actually evoking change for someone else. And spoiler alert, it's not really a tool. But it is a skill that I didn't realize I was developing. And it's definitely one that I am teaching my mindset coaching students, and that is holding space for someone else, the ability to be silent, and hold space for their growth, the ability to hold space, and let them figure it out, allow the discomfort, allow the pain and not solve it for them.
Lindsey 02:30
Because the clients come to me for all sorts of reasons. And a lot of that is through competition or wanting to be a mindset coach. Sometimes it's someone just wanting to get to the next level in their life. And a lot of the work that I do and we do as mindset coaches is holding that space for them, allowing them to be in that space safely. So they can explore so that they can work on themselves. And they can make those strides and grow into the person that can solve some of these challenges on their own.
Lindsey 03:05
And yes, there are tools that we give them and teach them so that they can do that faster and better, and more consistently for sure. But being able to hold space for their growth is important. So whether you are a mindset coach or a coach or parent or a spouse or a human being, learning to hold space for someone else takes a lot of discipline to not rush to the solution. But holding space for them is one of the most powerful things you can do.
Lindsey 03:31
So that's my tip for mental Monday. I will see you again next week. Be on the lookout for our monthly mindset coaching. If you haven't seen it already, it's definitely coming through soon, and would love to have you in that community. Speaking of holding space, I will hold space for you to grow. Alright, guys.
