Hi, all, welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy podcast. My name is Lindsey Wilson, and it's mental Monday. Hey, real quick. Today, we are going to talk about one little trick that you can implement into your life today to deepen your connection and leadership, and coaching with those around you.
Lindsey 00:54
But first, I would love it if you would leave us a review. I've asked before and I will ask again. But I'm asking you to do it today. Because it really does help you guys. And if you'd like the mental Mondays, if you liked the podcast, please, please, please take a minute, take 30 seconds and leave a review. Just plug it in.
Lindsey 01:14
Tell us what you love about it. We read everyone. And it does help other people find us. Okay. I want to tell you a little story, mental Monday real quick. So I'm gonna get into it fast. But I've noticed with my kids, they're doing more activities now that you know, some COVID things have lifted and all that. And in particular, my children need to have that connection with their teacher, with their coach with their camp counselor, or whatever.
Lindsey 01:40
And I'm noticing there's a very stark difference between the people that connect and understand how to connect and those that don't. And I wanted to bring this up because this is something so, so simple. And yet for those of us that are trying to influence people trying to lead, this is important. And I think to some degree, with COVID, and with masks. And just I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel a little bit socially awkward.
Lindsey 02:08
I think some of these things that maybe we were doing naturally before we forgot, or we kind of need to like get our muscle memory backup. So if you're a teacher, or leader, or a parent, or anything really mindset coach, and you want to connect with someone, get on their level, make eye contact, and welcome them. This is the simplest thing that I see. When people do this, my kids are locked in and when they don't, they are totally uninterested in whatever activity it is.
Lindsey 02:43
Now for kids, it's like literally getting down to their level. But making that eye contact and saying Welcome to class, or welcome to practice, Maxine, that's my oldest middle child. And the way that practice or that activity goes, if someone does that, is totally different than if someone doesn't. And again, it's like this little thing that is so easy to overlook. And I do it too.
Lindsey 03:16
But if you are a leader or coach or the person that is in charge in any situation, and you if possible, I know sometimes the groups are too big, if possible, welcoming somebody warmly, intentionally taking a beat if you know their name, saying their name. And so I just wanted to say this and mental Monday because I think there are a lot of opportunities to miss this. And again, I think some of it is COVID. We've all kind of forgotten some of these, I don't know little things that make a huge difference.
Lindsey 03:48
And talking about low-hanging fruit, this is one of them. So that's my challenge for you this week, is to actually welcome someone to a situation and if you can't do that, just greeting somebody doing it intentionally using their name, if you can, making eye contact, if possible, getting to their level, if they're younger than you are shorter than you. That's my challenge for you. And come on over on Instagram and let me know because some of the stuff is so so, so simple, but it's important. So that's my message for you today. Have a great week. And we'll see you again next week on Mental Monday. Talk to you soon. Bye for now.
