Lindsey 00:38
Hi all, and welcome to the mindset coach Academy podcast. My name is Lindsey Wilson, it is Mental Monday. Last month, in our monthly coaching, we talked about regret. And I'm not going to talk about that, per se, but one of the things that were coming up, and I see this a lot with people considering our certification, but I also see it sort of throughout with my students.
Lindsey 01:03
And it's this idea that it's too late. or sort of a subset of that is the idea that you're further behind, then you shouldn't be like you should be more successful, or you should be further along in your career, or you should be, shouldn't be, shouldn't be something. And I wanted to bring this up because this is a very pervasive thought. And I have it sometimes too, okay.
Lindsey 01:31
So this is, again, wrapped up in so much of the work we've been doing with our students around regret, because they made mistakes. And if they hadn't made the mistake, they feel like they would have been further along or what have you. And this is the thing that I want you to take a second and realize, and this is why it's almost like a perfect mental Monday because I don't think this necessarily requires like a ton of ton of mindset work, it just takes a second to remind yourself that that is a thought, the thought that you're far behind, or the thought that it's too late for you to fill in the blank.
Lindsey 02:05
Those are thoughts, they are not true. And the reason that I know this for sure, is I've had people have these thoughts that are 70,80 years old in the certification. And as a student of mine, I've had people believe this at 26. These are just thoughts. And I think when you recognize that this is a thought that may be and probably is influencing what you do. It's influencing what career you step into, it's influencing what actions you take, it's influencing whether you sign up for that class, volunteer to do this thing, or start a business or whatever. When we think this thought, it's too late for me, or I should be further along.
Lindsey 03:00
It is one of the most de-motivating thoughts that I know. Because you are immediately bringing in negative energy and the belief that this thing that you want, whatever that is, is not possible for you. And then you layer in shame, regret, and feelings of not being good enough. It's a shitty thought. And I want you at this moment on this Monday or whenever you're listening to this, to do one thing, and recognizes that it is thought it is not true.
Lindsey 03:33
Okay, it is a thought. And then I'll quote, it's never too late to be who you might have been. It sounds corny. It sounds like a stupid bumper sticker or a motivational poster. You guys know how much I hate those. But it's true. And so I want you today to recognize that if you have those thoughts or anything like that, that it's too late, you're, you should be further ahead.
Lindsey 03:58
That is a thought. I'm gonna remind myself because when we let go of that and we replace it with something along the lines of, it's never too late. I'm going to get going, whatever it is, you're motivated, you move forward, and you bring positive energy into your life and to people around you.
Lindsey 04:15
