Lindsey 00:38
Hi all and welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy podcast. My name is Lindsey Wilson, it's mental Monday. And this is where I give you one thing through the idea, an actionable thing that you can do to implement into your life. I want to talk about the importance of planning. So I am coming back very slowly from maternity leave. And not only maternity leave, but just the life of four kids. And those of you that have kids or even if you don't you know what it's like with the summer and the craziness and the lack of structure, and all that.
Lindsey 01:08
So we're getting back into the swing of things this fall. By the time you listen to this, hopefully, we will be rockin' and rolling. That's my ideal. And that will happen occasionally. And then it won't. But with all that chaos, one of the things that I have learned is the most important thing is yes, there is the structure, and yes, there is the dedicated time to work that's important for me.
Lindsey 01:33
But regardless of what industry you're in, regardless of what your day-to-day looks like, one of the things that I noticed a lot with my students is when they have chunks of time, and a lot of people in our certification in all my coaching programs are highly driven people, which means probably like you they take on a lot.
Lindsey 01:50
And they have different projects like they have their hobbies, they have their coaching, maybe they have their day job, maybe they have a mindset coaching business on the side, or maybe that's their full time. And then they have maybe a life hopefully with kids or dogs or whatever. And because of that, in my opinion, one of the most important things that are often overlooked in this is going to sound like the most captain obvious thing in the world is dedicated planning time.
Lindsey 02:19
So what we teach in all of our training programs is something called The Daily Beast. And with that is also the weekly beast where you sit down and you plan, regardless of what your structure is. That's how we teach it, spending some time deciding how you're going to spend your time. Again, this sounds obvious, and it is amazing how often people forget to do this. Because here's what happens when they don't.
Lindsey 02:46
They say I don't have any time. And then they have a chunk of time, whether that's 20 minutes, or one hour or three hours. And they sit down. And they immediately get distracted, because they don't know what to work on. And when your brain gets confused or overwhelmed. What does it do? It finds the easiest thing to do. It finds distraction, procrastination, oh, the dishwasher needs to be emptied.
Lindsey 03:12
Oh, I'll just go into Facebook real quick and check on that cabinet or bike that I'm looking at on the marketplace. And then 20 minutes are gone. An hour is gone. And you think God, I can't get anything done. The reason that you can't get anything done is you haven't decided how to spend your time. And I'm talking to myself as much as anybody when I do not plan my time. And again, I'm not talking about necessary structure though. That's part of it.
Lindsey 03:37
When I don't have a list of what and where I'm gonna spend my time. It goes like that. Okay, so my message for you today, this Monday, or whenever you're listening to this is to spend time, planning your time, spend time on how you're going to spend your time and you will be so much more productive. Alright, guys, that's all I got. We will see you next Monday here. And have a great week. I'll talk to you soon. Oh, and remember, our monthly mindset coaching program is opening soon. If it hasn't already. Check the show notes for more details. Bye for now.
