Hi, and welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy Podcast. Today it is Mental Monday, and we are talking all about Mindset, how to live it, how to teach it, and how to sell it.
Lindsey 00:24
Welcome to Mental Monday. All right, we are going through the transformation project with a small group of students with our insider our certification students, we got a cool group that's going through the seven-week program with me.
Lindsey 00:42
And one of the things that we talked about yesterday, and I want to share with you because I think it's important. I talked about a little bit on Instagram, too, if you're not following me on Instagram, definitely recommend I do little tidbits similar to this, but sometimes different topics, @lindseypositiveperform.
Lindsey 00:57
All right, when we are trying to break through to another level, when we are trying to improve ourselves, transform ourselves, reinvent ourselves, what is important is that we don't reject who we are now.
Lindsey 01:15
Now, this is a really easy thing to get into. Because oftentimes, when we want to get to another level, we have a little discontent, we are unsatisfied with where we are or who we are. And that creates that momentum and that energy and that desire for change. So it's a very fine line because obviously, we're gonna need a little bit of that dissatisfaction to want to change because change is hard. So there has to be something.
Lindsey 01:45
Right we know, from as Mindset Coaches that we either, you know, our brain makes changes, because we are going towards pleasure or away from pain, in this case, the pain is dissatisfaction. So a little bit of that is okay. But we want to make sure that we're not, again, rejecting who we are now. And in particular, the parts of ourselves that we don't like, and feel that pressure to fix them.
Lindsey 02:11
So, again, if we can keep that sense of I want more and I am exactly where I need to be right now I am here for a reason, I am a fully formed, wonderful human being, Now. Because here's what happens if we don't, we think that we are spending our energy moving towards a new level of ourselves. But in fact, what we are doing is we are spending our energy rejecting and pushing against and resisting who we were before.
Lindsey 02:45
And so the energy that we want to spend building ourselves up is actually spent pushing against who we are. And you'll know that you're doing this if you feel that dissatisfaction but then you don't feel inspired or you feel stuck or you're not sure. It doesn't mean it can't be uncomfortable, because growth is always uncomfortable.
Lindsey 03:09
But it has to have that sense of like, no, no, I appreciate who I am. The quote-unquote, the good and the bad. The things that you want to change, the things you want to fix, the things that you regret, we are a total of everything that's happened in our life. And we're going to use where we are now, to launch ourselves to another level, not to reject or resist who we are. Okay, that doesn't mean that we can't release who we are.
Lindsey 03:36
So you may think this is just semantics, right? But if we are rejecting, we are spending energy pushing against it. If we are releasing, we're letting go. Sounds like a really simple concept. And it is, and it almost sounds like it doesn't matter. But it does. Because again, energy, our thoughts are going to follow that energy, right? And our energy is going to follow those thoughts.
Lindsey 04:00
So if our thought is I have to reject this and resist this. That's where our thoughts go. That's where our energy goes. Instead of like, This is who I am. I am going to release it in order to launch myself to another level. Again, it sounds sort of a little bit woo woo. Maybe it sounds a little simplistic. Maybe it sounds like it's just words, but I can tell you that they matter.
Lindsey 04:26
So as you're trying to get to another level, release, don't resist. Release, who we were, who you were, don't resist who we were, who you were, we're trying to get to another level using that as the launching pad to do that.
Lindsey 04:43
